Arthur R. Smith Awards

The Arthur R. Smith Awards were created in the name of the founder of the Calgary Homeless Foundation to recognize and honour front-line staff and volunteers who provide housing and support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness in Calgary.

2011 Awards

Nomination submission deadline: Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 4 p.m.
Awards luncheon:
April 12, 2012, McDougall Centre

The  awards are open to staff and volunteers, excluding executive directors. There are three awards, which have been updated based on feedback. Winners will receive a total of $2,000 per award. The categories are:

  • A front-line staff person who provides housing and/or support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness
  • A front-line team that provides housing and/or support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness
  • A volunteer whose work makes a significant contribution in any way to those without a home

About the Award Recipients and Nominees

To recognize that the awards were postponed in 2009, there were two recipients for each category in 2010. The recipients were announced during a lunch-time ceremony at the Community Summit on Thursday, March 11, 2011. Each award recipient received $2,000.
