Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) has been selected as the beneficiary of the proceeds from the Backroad Traveler Band’s (BTB) new song, “A Day in the Country.”. Sandy McCrae with the (BTB), a Calgary country rock band, approached CHF’s Director of Human Resources, Coleen Hutton, about their exciting new theme song for the beloved sport of Chuckwagon Racing.Coleen’s father, Joe Carbury, was the voice of the Calgary Stampede’s Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Races for 45 years and his iconic voice is heard several times throughout the recording in homage to his legacy. The band is committed to giving back to the community through charitable giving. When they discovered Coleen was Joe Carbury’s daughter, the partnership with CHF was a natural fit.

The song evokes a sense of pride about being a Calgarian, as the video features clips from the Calgary Stampede Chuckwagon Races over the years!

The band held a reveal party for the song and music video on Saturday, May 11, 2019. All of the proceeds from the event’s ticket sales, auction items, as well as the band’s CD and merchandise sales for the evening, totaling several thousand dollars, were donated to CHF.

All ongoing proceeds from the on-line purchase of the song will be donated to CHF, available now on Apple Music. You can purchase the song here.
