Calgary Committee to End Homlessness

"Socially, morally and economically, homelessness is a problem that a community as proud as ours can no longer tolerate. Let’s put an end to homelessness for good."

This was the motivation behind the Calgary Committee to End Homelessness (CCEH), a community-based initiative that was launched in January 2007 in response to our city's growing homelessness crisis.  The goal, as the name suggests, was not to find new ways to manage or cope with homelessness, but to end it.

The membership of the Committee reflected the entire community. Representatives from front-line agencies, the private sector, the faith community, foundations, the Calgary Health Region, post-secondary education, the Aboriginal community, the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta and the Government of Canada came together and invested thousands of hours in research and collaboration.

The commitment and passion demonstrated by everyone involved inspired the creation of a bold and innovative plan containing practical and results-oriented solutions that will put an end to homelessness in Calgary for good.

The CCEH chose the Calgary Homeless Foundation  to lead implementation of this 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, and handed this role over to the Foundation in January 2008. Following this the CCEH disbanded.
