Progress with Calgary's 10 Year Plan
Highlights of Community Progress in 2009/10:
-
1,200+ people received housing over the first two years of the 10 Year Plan;
- HUA funded emergency shelters seeing declining numbers when comparing monthly numbers with the same month in the previous year
- 2,165 affordable housing units funded over the past year, including 1,000 units created through The City of Calgary's Attainable Home Ownership Program
- Co-ordination of re-housing processes for families, resulting in 107 families, plus 70 families fleeing domestic violence, receiving housing with supports and two new shelter diversion projects to provide families at risk of homelessness an alternative to emergency shelters.

A Look at 2010/11 Priorities:

Priority populations: families with children, youth, Aboriginals and chronically homeless
- Developing affordable housing for those with the greatest barriers to housing
- Building a system-wide Homeless Management Information System
- Reducing shelter use and begin retiring mainstream emergency shelter beds
- Re-doubling efforts to end family homelessness
