Our management team and board of directors are individuals with experience across a range of sectors, including not-for-profit, business, academia, government and philanthropy. This depth and breadth provides insight to guide the 10 Year Plan, governance to manage risks and skill to efficiently implement plans.
Diana Krecsy joined the Calgary Homeless Foundation as President and CEO in May 2014. Diana has more than 25 years of leadership experience, spanning health services, non-profits and academia.
Martina Jileckova – Vice-President Housing
Martina Jileckova has diverse experience in real estate and property development. She is a member of Subdivision Development Appeal Board, has volunteered for community associations and has a Masters degree in Planning.
Gerrad Oishi – Vice-President Social Enterprise
Gerrad Oishi has more than 20 years of experience in bringing new ventures to life within the energy, technology and non-profit sectors. In his role, Gerrad is focused on creating new tools and ways to fund community good.
Andrea Ranson – Interim Vice-President Strategy and Vice-President Communications and Fund Development
Andrea Ranson has provided communications counsel for over 25 years, primarily in the energy sector. Prior to working at the Foundation, she was the Director of Corporate Communications at Petro-Canada.
Alan Norris – Chair
Alan Norris is President and CEO of Brookfield Residential Properties. He chairs the Carma Centre for Excellence and RESOLVE Campaign, co-chairs the Infrastructure Funding Committee with The City of Calgary and received the 2013 Distinguished Business Leader Award by the Haskayne School of Business and the Calgary Chamber. He holds a B.A. degree in accounting and economics and two Chartered Accountant Designations, Scotland and Canada.
Cameron Bailey – Vice-Chair
Cameron Bailey consulted for energy companies, The Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company. He serves on our Board, Telus Spark Calgary Science Center, the University of British Columbia and the Alberta Energy Regulator, and is Chair of the Westside King’s Church Board of Trustees in Calgary. He has a B. Commerce degree and an MBA.
Bernadette Majdell – Vice-Chair and Secretary
Bernadette Majdell is the VP, Sales and Marketing at Hestia Group. She has more than 15 years experience in the housing industry, including strategy, sales and marketing, finance, client management and community development. For over 10 years, she worked with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
Darcy Verhun – Treasurer
Darcy Verhun is the Chief Operating Officer of FYidoctors, the largest eye care provider in Canada. He has held leadership roles at international accounting and consulting firms. Darcy holds has a B. Comm and an MBA, and is a Certified Director and a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
Arthur R. Smith – Chair Emeritus
The late Mr. Arthur R. Smith, an entrepreneur, politician and philanthropist, founded CHF in 1998 to create a unified front to reduce homelessness in Calgary. He spent the last 10 years of his life advocating on behalf of those who were homeless and vulnerable.
