Jenny Belzberg, 2018 Trail Blazer Legacy Award Recipient

Mrs. Jenny Belzberg, CM, AOE, LLD, is a Calgary-born community builder and philanthropist who has deeply influenced cultural life of Alberta. Mrs. Belzberg is a former board member of the Calgary Philharmonic Society, founding member and board chair of the Esther Honens Calgary International Piano Competition, and board chair of Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (1987-1991). She was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1996 and the Alberta Order of Excellence in 2000.

Together with her husband, the late Mr. Hyman Belzberg, a former Calgary Homeless Foundation board member and a well-respected Calgary businessman, Mrs. Belzberg built a life-long legacy of philanthropy. Mr. Belzberg’s own commitment to community was unique and ranged from chairing the Board of Directors of Israel Bonds, United Jewish Appeal, and Jewish National Fund to being a member of the Board at Mount Royal University Foundation, amongst many other civic initiatives. The two were a prominent force in community and cultural affairs.
